Nobushige Takahashi Announces 3rd Single "Deus benedicat"

Nobushige Takahashi is gearing up to deliver his third solo single, and it's shaping up to be a star-studded affair. "Deus benedicat" drops on May 27, 2026, featuring an impressive lineup of guest musicians that speaks volumes about Takahashi's standing in the Japanese underground rock scene.

For those unfamiliar with Takahashi, he's a respected figure in Japan's experimental and theatrical rock circles, known for his distinctive vocal presence and willingness to collaborate across genre boundaries. This new single reinforces that reputation by assembling musicians from some genuinely interesting projects.

The title track, "Deus benedicat" (Latin for "God bless"), features an all-star ensemble: guitarists 心 (Kokoro) from 天燐 (Tenrin) and こーじ隊長 (Koji-taichou), bassist トゥーサ (Toussa), keyboardist JUNCO, drummer 拓郎 (formerly of Valhalla), and backing vocals from 山口 "AZU" 安澄 (Azumi Yamaguchi). That's a serious amount of musicianship packed into one track.

The B-side, "組曲葬送第一楽章『因業』" (Suite Funeral: First Movement "Karma"), pivots to a different collective. You-suke from deva:ed and 藤居 諒 handle guitars, with bassist 岩城 'YASU' 保夫 from Dragon's eye and TSUYOSHI (Donnerschlag) on drums. This track promises a more chamber-like, introspective vibe compared to the A-side's apparent grandeur.

What's particularly striking here is how Takahashi's solo work is pulling from both established underground acts and newer faces—a sign of genuine artistic respect and cross-pollination within Japan's alternative rock community. The orchestral and compositional ambitions suggested by the track titles suggest this isn't simple rock fare.

For Western fans tracking Japan's deeper underground, Takahashi's releases are worth monitoring. If you want to stay updated on his latest moves, [follow him on Twitter](https://x.com/nobu_shige_02).
